Frequently asked questions
What is the CONDTROL Smart 40 suitable for?
For measurements up to 40 m, indoors and outdoors. It calculates areas and volumes and measures indirectly with the Pythagoras function.
What is the integrated spirit level for?
It helps you keep the device level when measuring between walls or columns. That way you measure the shortest distance and get accurate values.
Which batteries does the Smart 40 need?
Two 1.5 V AAA (LR3) batteries. They are included.

From our guides
The CONDTROL Smart 40 is a handy laser distance meter for renovation, finishing and installation. It measures from 0.05 to 40 m with a stated typical accuracy of ±1.5 mm, runs on two AAA batteries and comes with a protective pouch.
What measuring tasks is the Smart 40 suitable for?
Room and wall dimensions, window and door openings, material requirements for flooring, tiles or drywall. The tool calculates areas and volumes, adds and subtracts values and measures indirectly by Pythagoras when a point cannot be reached directly. The reference point can be switched so that you measure from the front or rear edge, depending on how you place it. In tracking mode it shows the minimum and maximum value, for example to find the shortest distance.
The impact-resistant, rubberised housing and the large buttons can be operated even with gloves; with its phone-sized design it fits in any work bag. The Smart 40 has no Bluetooth, tilt sensor or target camera. For app connection or longer distances, the Vector 80 or XP4 are suitable.
Measuring functions at a glance
- Single and continuous measurement (tracking) with min/max value
- Area and volume calculation
- Addition and subtraction of readings
- Indirect measurement by Pythagoras
- Switchable reference point
Understanding range and accuracy
The 40 m range applies to well-reflecting targets. In daylight or on poorly reflecting surfaces, a target plate helps. Direct sunlight and shiny or transparent surfaces can reduce accuracy. No protection rating against dust and splash water is specified for this model.
Power supply and scope of delivery
2 × 1.5 V AAA batteries (LR03).
Laser distance meter, protective pouch with wrist/belt loop, 2 AAA batteries, user manual.
Warranty
2 years' warranty; one additional year after registration in accordance with the warranty terms.
