From our guides
The CONDTROL 32X is an optical level with 32x magnification for determining and transferring height differences. You read an upright levelling staff through the telescope. The instrument does not project a laser line and does not need a battery for optical measurement.
What work is the 32X suitable for?
For height checks in earthworks and civil engineering, when laying out outdoor areas and transferring reference heights. A stable set-up, a clear line of sight to the staff and a controlled measuring procedure are decisive. For a visible line on walls, on the other hand, a Cross-line lasers is intended.
Optics and compensator
The magnification is 32×; the shortest sighting distance is 0.6 m. The magnetically damped compensator works within ±15′. First level the instrument roughly using the foot screws and the circular vial. The compensator replaces neither a secure tripod set-up nor a check after an impact.
The stated standard deviation for 1 km double-run levelling is 1.5 mm. This figure describes the test procedure and is not a blanket accuracy promise for every single measurement. Nor is it equivalent to the mm/m figure of a line laser.
How to determine a height difference
- Set up the tripod on firm ground, attach the instrument and centre the circular vial.
- Focus the eyepiece on the crosshairs, then focus on the staff. Check whether the crosshairs appear to shift against the staff when you move your eye; eliminate this parallax before reading.
- Hold the staff vertically on the known point and read the backsight a. Then read the foresight b at the second point.
- The height difference is a − b. With a = 1.80 m and b = 1.25 m, the second point is 0.55 m higher.
Where possible, choose similar sighting distances for backsight and foresight. Check the instrument according to the manual before important measurements; adjustment requires the checks described there.
Distinguishing instrument and accessories
This offer is the single instrument, not a complete package with tripod and levelling staff. The instrument comes with a transport case and adjustment tool; you will find the full scope of delivery in the “In the box” section. To work with it you need a suitable tripod and a levelling staff. Accessories are only included if explicitly listed.
32X or 24X?
32× magnifies the staff more than 24×. At longer sighting distances this can make reading easier; heat shimmer, visibility and set-up remain decisive. Compare the CONDTROL 24X or view all optical levels.
