Frequently asked questions

What exactly does non-destructive mean?

Devices with measuring pins are pushed into the material and leave two small holes. The Hydro Check works inductively instead: you place the sensor on the surface and read the value. Nothing is left behind on parquet, exposed concrete, plaster or furniture, and you can quickly scan an area instead of checking individual points.

Why do I have to select the material first?

Wood, concrete and brick react differently to the measuring field, so each material has its own limits. By selecting the mode, the device adjusts the colour scale so that blue, yellow and red are really correct for the respective building material.

Does the device replace an oven-dry test or a CM meter?

No. The Hydro Check is an indicator device: it shows quickly and without damage where it is damp and how drying is progressing. For readiness for covering according to the standard, the CM measurement remains decisive. In practice you use the Hydro Check to narrow down the critical spots and only check those in detail.
