Frequently asked questions
How do I reach 1,500 rpm?
The device itself offers 0, 300, 600 and 1,000 rpm. You switch to the highest level of 1,500 rpm via the supplied remote control. At this speed the line appears almost continuous and the receiver finds the signal faster, which saves time especially over long distances.
What is the difference from the Roto HVG 600?
With a receiver, the HVG 800 works over an 800 m instead of 600 m diameter, reaches 1,500 instead of 1,000 rpm via the remote control, and the remote control works up to 300 m instead of 150 m. Accuracy, self-levelling, IP66 and battery life are the same on both. The 800 pays off for large areas and long routes; for normal building sites the 600 is enough.
Can I use the Roto HVG 800 without a receiver?
Indoors, yes. Combined with the high rotation speed, the green beam can be seen with the naked eye, depending on the lighting. Outdoors and in sunshine you work with the supplied receiver, which gives you 800 m diameter.

From our guides
The CONDTROL Roto HVG 800 is a green rotary laser with RotoSense receiver. With the receiver, the working range is up to 800 m in diameter. It is suitable for height transfer and levelling work indoors and outdoors.
What work is the Roto HVG 800 suitable for?
Transfer reference heights for foundations, check the subgrade or compare heights in outdoor areas. The tool projects horizontal and vertical planes as well as plumb points. In daylight, use the receiver when the laser line is not sufficiently visible.
Key technical data
- Working range with receiver: 800 m diameter, i.e. up to 400 m from the centrally positioned laser.
- Accuracy: ±0.05 mm/m.
- Electronic self-levelling: ±5°.
- Protection rating: IP66.
- Tripod mount: 5/8 inch.
- Slope in X and Y: up to ±10%.
- Maximum speed: 1,500 rpm via the remote control.
Scan mode, remote control and battery
The speed levels are 0, 300, 600, 1,000 and 1,500 rpm. In scan mode you select a sector of 5°, 10°, 30° or 90° to concentrate the projection on the work area. According to the manual, the remote control has a range of up to 300 m; the usable distance depends on the conditions.
The stated operating time is 22 hours. For the battery in the rotary laser, the manual states about 7 hours to a full charge. Working while charging is permitted; use the supplied charger.
Design
The rotating head is driven by a brushless motor: no carbon brushes, no commutator wear, smoother and quieter running than classic brushed motors, designed for daily use on large building sites. The optics are rubber-protected, and the housing is dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets to IP66. At 1,000 to 1,500 rpm the line looks continuous to the eye rather than flickering.
Setting the gradient
The slope is set manually. Check the desired gradient using reference points. A gradient of 1% corresponds to a height difference of 1 cm per metre. It is not an angle in degrees.
Scope of delivery and additional equipment
According to the user manual: rotary laser, RotoSense, remote control, charger, laser enhancement glasses, manual and case. Tripod and levelling staff are not listed and are chosen separately. Check the right receiver mounting for your application.
Laser enhancement glasses make the line easier to see; they do not protect against laser radiation. Check the tool's accuracy after impacts or falls as described in the manual.
Accessories and manual
You will find suitable set-ups under tripods and poles. The user manual can be found in the downloads section of this product page.
Which model fits better?
This model offers a larger working range than the Roto HVG 600. For digital gradient input, compare the Digi Roto HVG 800 with DS-Remote. For smaller areas, the Roto HVG 600 with 600 m diameter may be enough. Compare rotary lasers.
